How to Use a Ceramic Incense House

What Is a Ceramic Incense House?

A ceramic incense house is a miniature house designed to hold a burning incense stick. The smoke drifts out through the windows and chimney, creating a gentle fragrance and a striking decorative piece even when not in use.

What You Need

Step-by-Step: How to Use Your Incense House

  1. Place on a stable, heat-safe surface. Keep the incense house away from curtains, paper, or anything flammable.
  2. Place the incense cone. Lift up the house (or for larger houses, open the designated place) and place the incense down.
  3. Light the incense. Light the tip of the stick and let it catch fire for a few seconds. Enjoy the fragrance! Smoke will drift softly through the windows and chimney, filling the room with scent. A standard incense stick burns for 20–40 minutes.
  4. Extinguish safely if needed. To stop early, put a cup over the cone. Never leave burning incense unattended.

Tips for the Best Results

  • Experiment with different incense fragrances — sandalwood, cedar, jasmine or anything else you prefer!
  • Place the house near (but not in) a gentle airflow to help the smoke drift visibly through the openings.
  • Wash the surface with water after use to clean the residue from the incense.

Safety First

  • Always place the incense house on a heat-safe surface.
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets.
  • Never leave burning incense unattended.
